Klaus Wunderlich (1931–1997) received no less than 15 gold records during his lifetime. He was not satisfied with the standard sound of the Hammond organ, instead creating his own unique sound. As one of the best, if not the greatest organist in the world, he truly earned the title "Mr. Hammond."

His sound was widely appreciated. Over 20 million records were sold between 1958 and 1996, making Klaus Wunderlich the most successful organ performer. The record companies earned around half a billion German marks in sales from Klaus Wunderlich’s recordings, an unimaginable sum at the time.
